Introduction

For those of you that have been visting this site for a long time and have noticed that nothing ever happens to it, I feel that you are owed an explanation. I am the sort of person that wants everything to be perfect before I think about letting people us it or see it. It has been my intention to get down to this job of sorting out the website for 2 years. There never seems to have been time to get the text or photos together. So the site never progressed - all anyone saw was that there was work in progress (not much!).

During the 2 years since I purchased the domain name and the site hosting I have become increasingly interested in Linux and one of the aspects (there have been many) that particularly impressed me was the idea that you should release often and quickly, never mind if it was not exactly right or perfect, those things would all be fixed in the next release which could be within hours.

I am not sure that this philosophy actually applies to Web Site design but I am going to apply it. The prevailing thinking seems to be that if there is anything wrong with the site then people will think that your company / school is a load of rubbish and therefore not use you. I will risk it. I have thus finally decided to just get something on the web, it might not be perfect but it will be a start and that is better than "this site is under construction".

Mr. and Mrs. White have recently been visiting Lebanon again and I asked them to put together the basic text that is now on the site, they have also been responsible for choosing the photos that we have used.

There are many things that I would like to add as and when time permits, some are :

However, I will get the site up and running and add these as and when. Hopefully soon.

Viewing

I must admit that I know that I should test this site on a number of browsers but I have only tested it so far on three, IE 5.0, Netscape 6.2 and Opera 6.02. I still have a problem with Opera as the background bitmap that I am using makes the screen black. I will be seeking to remedy this problem but will publish the website (see the paragraph above) anyway. If you know the reason for this, you could mail me.

I have tried to set up the site so that it views OK in either 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768.

The site uses frames and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) so there may be problems with older browers.

If you experience any problems while viewing the site or have any great suggestions then please mail me.

Development

Thsi site has been developed from text and pictures put together almost exclsuively by Mr and Mrs Colin White during their viist to the school during May - July 2002.

It was put together using Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.

PDF

I have started to put PDF files on this site for parents that would like to download some of the communications and forms that the office hands out at various times of the year. I am aware that it would be much more elegant to convert them to HTML and put them on the site that way but at the moment there is no time for these elegances! Forgive me if you can.

PDF is explained in detail here.

In order to read PDF documents you will need the Adobe Reader a brilliant PDF reader installed on your computer which can be downloaded here. The reason that I have stopped giving the link to Adobe Reader is that the Foxit Software PDF Reader is just a thousand times smaller and so much quicker and elegant all round. Abandon Adobe Reader and download the Foxit Reader using the link I have given you!

Note that most computers already have it installed. If yours does not then download it and install it because it is GREAT!
