Monday 08FEB and Tuesday 09FEB2021

February 4, 2021 by Steve

Dear Parents

On the occasion of St. Maroun’s Day, the school will be closed on Tuesday 09FEB2021. There will be no online teaching at all on that day.

In addition, we are going to take a “link day” on Monday 08FEB2021 where we will NOT be teaching online. This will be a day when students will be able to catch up with any assignments that they have missed and to organise themselves for the long push up to the Easter break. On that day there MIGHT be small (30 minute) individual assessments done with students in the Infant Department. If that is the case, you will be informed before the weekend.

I know that this way of learning is not ideal for so many students and parents and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the tremendous efforts that you are making to ensure that this year is not wasted.

All important communication is via Telegram : GET ON IT!

January 22, 2021 by Steve

We will not be going back to WhatsApp in the near future.

We are moving all our important communications to our Website (https://www.lesbg.com/site/latestnews/) and to an app called Telegram. Commonly known as “WhatsApp on steroids”, Telegram is an enterprise ready solution for message delivery. Download it from the AppleStore here : https://apps.apple.com/us/app/telegram-messenger/id686449807 or Google PlayStore here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.telegram.messenger

Once you have downloaded it (or if you have already downloaded it), click the link below to join the Telegram messaging channel that LES Loueizeh will use to communicate important information.

Please contact the school via a message on Telegram on 71 183 559. During the deep lockdown that is all we are able to deal with.

A sad day

January 19, 2021 by Steve

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear colleague Nadim Dahdah on 19JAN2021.

Nadim Dahdah has been a part of LES Loueizeh longer than almost any member of staff. He joined the school in September 1996.

He was always a key part of the “face of the school” as his job was as a direct interface between the accounting office and the parents. During his many long years of faithful service he built close friendships with parents and staff. As a school community : Administration, Teachers, Student, Parents we will mourn his passing and remember with fondness the effect he had on our lives.

There are many staff who will find it hard to forget his very generous nature, particularly in his distribution of chocolate bars down the many years!

Always a man of fastidious detail, I well remember him sending cheques for me to sign and sending detailed instructions about where EXACTLY the signature had to start and finish. He was often annoyed with the fact that my signature was too tall vertically instead of being a horizontal one!

At this time of their great loss our thoughts and prayers are with his family. His wife, Phoebe and his son George and his daughters Mary and Liza. We are praying that the Great Comforter will be their portion at this very difficult time.

He will not be forgotten.

Steve White. Principal.

[In honour of Nadim’s memory we will not be teaching or publishing videos or doing zoom meetings tomorrow, Wednesday 20JAN2020]

Important Details : Thursday 14JAN2021

January 14, 2021 by Steve

It seems that the early teething problems have sorted themselves out. They were mainly permissions problems.

The school WhatsApp number has been temporarily banned from WhatsApp (along with half of Lebanon!!!). Please contact us on Telegram (same number 71 183 559). We will take much lobnger to process because Telegram does not have as nice an interface as WhatsApp.

Deep Lockdown : Thursday 14JAN – Friday 22JAN2021

January 13, 2021 by Steve

Tomorrow VERY few teachers will be in school. But we will not stop broadcasting. Those teachers that are able will be broadcasting live on Zoom from their homes. Those that are unable will be preparing videos.

The timetable will not be changing. If there is pre-recorded video it must be watched and the work that is set in that video completed during the 50 minutes of that lesson.

Tomorrow morning at 7:30 am you will look at the livestream in Google Classroom and as normal click the link in the LiveStream and you will be taken to a Google Sheet that will give exact details of how the day will be split between live Zoom session and pre-recorded videos.

PLEASE BE PATIENT. We are trying to produce something of quality, but that might take time. Four of the TechTeam will be on duty tomorrow, helping on the WhatsApp and responding to queries.
